However you need to keep in mind what blogging is really for. When you blog you do not only want to offer your readers something to catch their attention but you also want to help them to improve their lives.
By improving the lives of your readers you foster genuine relationships with them that help them to stick around far longer than they would with just some generic blogger on the internet. But what kind of blog post ideas can help people to improve their lives? Well, here are some things for you to contemplate writing on:
#1 Sing – Finding joy in the little things is what life is all about. From singing in the shower to singing along with the radio in your car, the very act of singing can bring joy to even the tone deaf among us. It does not have to be good, but it does have to be loud and free. Remind your readers to break loose every once in a while and enjoy their life.
#2 The Golden Rule – If you do not know what the Golden Rule is then I will define it for you: “Do unto others as you would have then do unto you.” Not only is that Biblical, but everyone can agree on it. Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
Sure, sometimes they will not be nice back, but you have not lost anything. The better you treat others the better you feel about yourself. Remind your blog readers of this often forgotten bit of wisdom and help them to overcome the urge to be cranky and cynical.
#3 Watch the Sunrise – It is the simple things in life that we most often forget. Things that happen every day that are miracles but we just take in stride. Taking the time to really appreciate the small things in life should be one of your reader’s priorities. Remind your readers to take time to smell the roses and watch the sun rise, or sun set, at least a few times a year. That way they can take in the beauty of nature and really appreciate the life they live.
#4 Eat dessert – In this fast paced world full of health and diet warning, fast food binges, and on the go meals you need to remind your readers that it is okay to eat dessert. Not in large quantities or as every meal, but enjoying the sweet things in their lives should be a priority. Dessert is like a little food gift. It makes you smile no matter what kind of day you have had. Remind your blog readers that it is okay to indulge once in a while in the sweet parts of life.
#5 Be Great, Not Perfect –No one is perfect and the sooner your readers can grasp that the better off they will be. They should always strive to be better. Better workers, better friends, better parents, better children, but they should understand that being better is the goal, not the journey. You can never reach perfection, so do not set yourself up for disappointment. Only strive to be the best you can be and be satisfied with that.
#6 Failure is Not a Person –The thing that causes a lot of people to stumble in life is that when they fail they see themselves as a failure. Failure is not a person. Just because you fail it does not make you a failure. It just means that you need to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward. Remind your readers to keep working despite their difficulties.
After all, Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, tried over a thousand ways to make one before he got it right, and yet when asked how many failures he had he said, “None. I just discovered a thousand ways not to make a light bulb.” That is the right way to look at failure. Not as something crippling but as something to learn from and build on.
#7 Plant a Tree – Taking care of the environment is big right now, but is it big for the right reasons. Remind your readers that we all live on this planet and have a responsibility to each other and to future generations to keep it up. Planting trees, recycling, and using things wisely are just a few of the ways everyone can help out. Thinking about the future and other people is the first step in living a life that is worthwhile.
#8 Laugh – You know what they say, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Well, it turns out that this is true. Laughter has many benefits for your body and mind. Encourage your readers to laugh every day. Include jokes and funny images on your blog posts once in a while. By spreading joy and laughter you are making the world a better, healthier place. Finding enjoyment in life is important and should always be encouraged.
#9 Borrow Better –Borrowing is a touchy subject and yet we all do it. We borrow from the bank, our friends, and our family. Encourage your readers to be better borrowers. Tell them to always return what they borrow in a timely manner, from money to movies and everything in between. They should return things better then they got them too. If they borrow a friend’s car they should return it with a full tank of gas.
Not only will they be the kind of person you do not mind borrowing something, but friendships and relationships will get stronger instead of weaker.
#10 Lend Freely – This is the opposite of the last point. Not only should you encourage readers to be better borrows but better lenders too. Help them to lend without expecting anything in return, even the object they are lending. If they get it back then great, but if not then they do not sour the relationship with that other person by being bitter about ‘losing’ their item.
I know this is hard to do, but the more you do it the easier it gets. Of course you should be wise in whom you lend to and what you are lending, but freely lending something is beneficial to your peace of mind.
#11 Say I Love You –Some people think the world says I love you too often, but I think the opposite is true. If you really love someone, as a friend or as a family member or romantically then you should tell them that all the time. A genuine declaration of love is one of the most rewarding gifts you can receive. It lifts you up, makes you warm inside, and helps you to feel connected to the other person. Saying I love you and expressing that love in hugs or other ways should be encourage and would help make the world a friendlier place.
#12 Do More Than You Have To –Most people try to get away with doing the bare minimum. At work and in life they skate by and never put effort into anything. Not only does that mean they do poor work and have weak relationships, but they also feel unfulfilled and unsatisfied.
Encourage your readers to do more than is asked of them or expected from them. When they go above and beyond they will feel better about their work and everyone around them will appreciate their efforts.
These are just a few of the ideas that you can blog about that are beneficial for readers and also get you the traffic and consistent followers you need.
